Team incomes include tickets, peripheral items/merchandising, sponsorships/advertising, and TV broadcast rights etc. Of course, teams also get lots of money from NBA for managing the overall broadcast rights (the reason for the recent large salary cap increase). Teams are involved in revenue sharing where teams making money from tickets sales will contribute part of their profits (after expenses) to the pool for the unprofitable teams. For example, the Lakers had to contribute $49M in the 2016~17 season to the pool.... |
